Abstract

Inexpensive Networks for Schools

Andreas Bednarz, Mathias Krüger, Tim Albers

project report

Our school would like a network, however, conventional networks are too expensive for our school. Therefore we looked for an inexpensive alternative that takes advantage of existing cables (electricity cables, phone lines, ...). After initial, unsuccessful and unsatisfactory tests, we thought of using the cables of our school's intercom, which we simulated using a telephone cable consisting of four wires. We connected these directly to a standard network without any problems and thus we had found a way of setting up an inexpensive, fast and safe network for our school.
