Abstract

3D Printing at Home

project report

Last summer I read a book. The author Neil Gershenfeld (Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the USA) describes his idea to build a 3D printer, amongst other things. Since then, I have been determined to build my own 3D printer. I found the programs MORAY and POVRAY, which were well suited for the design of 3D objects. Using these programs I designed 3D objects and sliced them into layers of equal thickness. Then I modified our old printer to accept 3mm thick styrofoam sheets and built 3D objects from styrofoam and gypsum.
