Electrorheological fluids (ERF) have the special property that they solidify upon application of an electrical voltage. This effect has potential for numerous novel applications. We have considered adjustable shock absorbers, gentle robotic hands, wrapping of sensitive goods, novel protective clothing and even self-healing walls. We are particularly proud of the latter idea, as we did not find anything about this in literature or internet.
