Abstract

Electrorheological Fluids - An Optimization

Heiko Burau, Stefan Hück

project report

The special property of an electrorheological fluid (ERF) is its ability to be switched from the liquid phase to the solid phase and back in a few milliseconds. We have studied several aspects of this property and arrived at interesting and surprising results. We had to address numerous problems before we could begin our systematic search for the respective optimal electrorheological fluid for a number of applications.
