Hot Cooling

The goal of this project is the design and construction of a refrigerator that cools with heat. A fridge based on this principle could be useful in a broad range of applications, for example vitally important medication could be cooled by the sun. We built a cooling system that uses water and ethanol as cooling fluid and silica gel for absorption and we optimized this system with regard to temperature and energy consumption. We found which mixture of ethanol and water has the best cooling properties and we optimized the silica distribution in our cooling circuit.
