Abstract

Steam Generation with Light

Donald Hansen, Andreas Kirch, Leon Heinen

project report

Steam generation is an energy-intensive and essential part of a wide range of industrial processes. For example, electricity generation is still largely based on steam power plants. A lot of thermal energy is needed to boil water or another liquid so that the steam can be used to drive a turbine and a generator for electricity generation. Innovation that enables optimization of this energy conversion process is therefore of great importance.

Our project focuses on the fundamentals. We concentrate on the formation of bubbles and their properties. We hope to use our findings to generate steam from water and other liquids more efficiently.
