My project uses an integrated HD camera to improve a cat flap. Cats are known for bringing "presents" home, e.g. mice or birds. The combination of a cat flap with an HD camera and face recognition should prevent them from taking these into the house. The face recognition ensures that the flap will only open if the cat does not carry prey in its mouth. My realization uses Raspberry Pi hardware and software components with face recognition based on OpenCV. My project will not only solve the above problem, but it will also show that the cat flap can be a smart home device that could be controlled via the Internet.
