Abstract

The Safe Laser Pointer

project report

Laser pointers are a potential risk for our eyes as the collimated beam can damage the retina. Therefore they are prohibited at schools despite of being excellent pointers.

After numerous experiments I found a solution to this problem. My invention is based on an IR emitter that sends an encoded high frequency signal to the screen or board and electronics integrated into the laser pointer to ensure that the laser can only be switched on when it is pointed at the screen or board. This way my system ensures that the laser cannot be pointed at the audience.
