project report

Illnesses often prevent students from attending school lessons. However, by now almost all students have access to the internet. Therefore we have developed a system that allows students to participate in lessons while being outside the classroom.

We built a robot that is equipped with a steerable camera. This allows video streaming of the lesson via the internet. Additionally, the robot is equipped with a microphone and a loudspeaker so that the student can talk to teacher and classmates via the internet from home. The robot is mobile and can be controlled via the internet. In order to achieve this, we have coupled the "brain" (NXT-chip) of our robot to the steerable camera and we have written suitable software. We have built and tested several versions of our robotic school assistant.
