Abstract

Experiments based on a Homemade 3D Scanner

project report

The objective of our project is the construction of a low-cost 3D scanner. Using a line laser and a webcam, we were able to scan objects and to create complete digital models. Aiming to improve the quality of the 3D scans, we switched to the structured light method, which is based on trigonometry. The improved 3D scanner produces detailed 360° scans. The next step will be to study 3D changes of the shape and structure of objects over significant time spans.
